Oakfield Park Donegal is a privately owned estate and railway, which has won several National awards for the restoration of its gardens and buildings. Sitting in a lush landscape of parklands, lakes, mature woodlands, overlooking the distant Croaghan Mountain, the grounds include a hedge maze, sculpture and miles of walking paths.

WEAVE YOUR WAY
BY TRAIN

A trip on the train is the best way to see all of the Lower Gardens. Over 4.5km of narrow gauge track, weaves its way through the trees, revealing many pleasing vistas. The railway takes you around the lake and grounds passing the Castle Folly, the Tree Circle with the “Orb” and the awe inspiring “Long Sleeper” sculpture on the Spiral Mound before returning to the Station.

BUFFERS is an oasis in the heart of Oakfield Park in Donegal. Serving hot food, drinks and treats, surrounded by a rich abundance of flora and fauna. DOG FRIENDLY

No one loves walking more than man’s best friend. Donegal’s scenic landscapes and historic landmarks coupled with its great hospitality makes for some great dog friendly walking adventures.

The grounds include a traditional walled garden, lakes, Buffers Restauranttrain rides and stunning views all of which make this location the number one sport for a day out with your furry friends. Dogs are very welcome but must be kept on a lead.

They can even ride the train!

GUIDED TOURS
OF FORMAL GARDENS

Oakfield Park’s private formal gardens are accessible twice daily on weekends all Summer by professional guided tour only. The tour lasts an hours and takes in the main features on the best routes with detailed history and horticulture as its focus. Tours can be booked on arrival and cost only €2 per adult and €1 per child. Guided tours are free for Seasonal and Gold passholders.
